“A Little Man”
“And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.” – Luke 19:3
The little man, Zacchaeus, had climbed into a tree.
He heard the Lord was passing by and Him he had to see.
The crowds prevented his vision; his shortness hindered his view.
He thought for a while and concluded, “This sycamore tree will do”!
Jesus appeared below him, He looked up to see the small man.
He bid him come down to Him quickly; A house call was part of His plan.
Jesus was guest to a sinner; A small man would have quite a lift.
Salvation would come to a household, though little he got a big gift.
Zacchaeus was small and a sinner; For sure he was out on a limb.
He had to come down to meet Jesus and find He could take away sin.
We all, as the man in this story, are wise to come down from our height.
He still makes house calls to the sinners; He still has us all in His sight.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” – Luke 19:10
