All week long we have been hearing the news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth and the inauguration of the new King of England, King Charles III. News Flash!!! I know of another King who is the King of Kings!
I tend to write devotional articles in conjunction with my sermons for written messages can aid in the understanding of preached messages. Sermon preparation also helps in making the truths of a passage fresh on my mind and heart and I have greater liberty to write out excerpts of what I plan to preach. This passage will be my text and message thought for tomorrow’s sermon so I will share a devotional spin on the question of this text.
The question pertains to the identity of a King who is associated with glory and the answer to His identity is an answer affording great hope and encouragement. The King is the Lord and He is described as strong and mighty. The might of the King is amplified in that He is “mighty in battle”!
What are the implications of the question and answer contained in this verse? The implications are clear to the minds and hearts of Bible students and the people of God. The King reigns on high and will one day reign on this earth! The King is the Lord and He is strong, mighty, and victorious in battle! The King is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ who is alive and well, right now, and ultimately in charge of all that goes on. He will, in His own time, defeat every enemy existing and will reign upon this earth!
When He is the “Saviour King” in human hearts through salvation, He will most certainly take care of His “Christian subjects” including our battles for He is the “Lord mighty in battle”! Can I have an “Amen”?
