“December 26 – Let Down or Buildup?”
Paul states in Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Today is December 26, 2022. Yesterday was Christmas Day and today is the day after. Today may be somewhat of a let down for some as the buildup and hype, in terms of the holiday aspect, are now over. Wrapping paper, empty boxes, and other Christmas related accumulated things are now to be reckoned with in terms of disposal or storing. Many today are experiencing an “after Christmas letdown”! Some are even depressed and able to relate to a famous Old Testament Prophet by the name of Elijah. The excitement of an encounter with Ahab and the prophets of Baal were followed by an aftermath of depression. Expended energy is often followed by exhaustion and depression! The preparation for Christmas and then the day after, is for many, the buildup followed by the letdown.
It is well to remember that attention in the birth of Christ should be equally as strong in the life of Christ! The Christian has the testimony that Christ lives in them. That means that there is never the day after of a letdown for Christ never ceases to live within the believer. When attention is riveted only on Christmas, as a holiday, an after Christmas letdown can be expected. When attention is riveted on Christmas as a Holy Day, then our perspective is radically different. Redeemed hearts and spiritually awakened minds realize that Christ was born, He died, He arose, and He now lives! He, in fact, liveth in those of us who are saved. This means that December 26th is not a letdown but rather a buildup and just as exciting as December 25th!
