It’s Springtime
“For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;” – S of S 2:11-12
Springtime is the most welcomed of seasons. The door is finally closed to a long winter with its coldness and deadness. The lily has raised its golden head, sort of looked around and given the signal that it is now safe to rise!
Its springtime when the winter is over and new life appears and God’s tiny winged creatures serenade its most welcomed arrival.
It was springtime when the precious Lamb of God paid sins debt and shouted, “It is finished” and three days later said goodbye to the tomb.
It is springtime when “amazing grace” brings the condemned sinner out of the pit and onto the rock. The bright light of salvation has invaded the deep caverns of the soul and the utter darkness of sin is dissipated
It is springtime when the long night of sorrow ends and tears of sorrow begin to dry. Its springtime when the suffering saint of God has finally witnessed a break in the clouds and can enjoy the lofty mountain tops of a clearer sense of the Savior’s presence and love.
It is springtime when the child of God passes safely through the valley of the shadow of death and finds themselves unscathed by the stinger of death and home at last beyond the pale of grief and sorrow.
It is springtime for the saint when eyes of faith meet His eyes of grace and peace like a river attends the way. God’s child is most certainly taking a longer stride along the path of growth in grace when they exclaim in spite of circumstances, “It is well with my soul.”
It will be springtime when the Father finally gives the nod to His only begotten Son to go and get His bride! The Church’s’ winter will be past and His blood washed bride will bask forever in the sunlight of His physical presence. Yes, the time of singing will come when the ransomed host of God will blend voices in the “Hallelujah Chorus” of all ages!
